DJ Kennington and the #17 Castrol Dodge team continued their consistent 2026 NASCAR Canada Series campaign with an eighth-place finish in the NAPA 150, round seven of the 2026 season, Sunday afternoon at Calabogie Motorsports Park.
With wet weather affecting the weekend schedule, Kennington and the Castrol team made the strategic decision not to participate in Saturday’s practice session, confident their race setup would be well suited for the dry conditions forecast for race day.
Persistent weather also forced the cancellation of qualifying, meaning the starting lineup was determined by the series rulebook. That placed the two-time series champion sixth on the starting grid for the 50-lap event.
Several early caution flags slowed the pace and made it difficult for drivers to gain positions on the challenging road course. During the middle stages of the race, Kennington slipped back a few spots as the field battled closely throughout the pack.
The longest green-flag run of the afternoon in the second half of the race giving Kennington the opportunity to work his way forward once again. Running his quickest lap times in the #17 Castrol Dodge during the late stages, he climbed back through the field to secure another top-ten result, crossing the finish line in eighth.
“The Castrol car was really good all day,” said Kennington. “It’s a good track, but it’s tough to pass here. There were some pretty aggressive moves made out there too. All in all, it was a solid run in the top ten and the car is in great shape. We’ll take it.”
