The NASCAR Canada Series returns to Autodrome Montmagny on Saturday, July 4, for the second doubleheader event of the 2026 season.
With two races taking place on the same day, drivers face a challenge that requires preparation both on and off the track. Reigning NASCAR Canada champion and current points leader Marc-Antoine Camirand knows that challenge well after sweeping the season’s first doubleheader at Autodrome Chaudière in June.
Although two races make for a longer day, Camirand says his preparation remains largely the same.
“My preparation doesn’t really change much,” he said. “The key is arriving well prepared and staying focused because they’re usually long days.”
Once the first race is complete, Camirand shifts his attention to maintaining the right mindset before getting back behind the wheel.
“The biggest thing is staying focused,” he explained. “If the first race didn’t go well, you have to stay positive. If it did go well, you want to keep that same enthusiasm going into the second race.”
While physical endurance is often associated with doubleheader events, Camirand believes the mental aspect plays a bigger role.
“Physically, I don’t really feel much difference. Most drivers are in good physical condition, and I’m used to dealing with the heat. Mentally, concentration and focus become extremely important.”
From a championship perspective, preserving the race car can be just as important as managing the driver.
“The biggest challenge is making sure you still have a car in good condition for the second race,” Camirand said. “That’s especially important when you’re fighting for a championship.”
Throughout the day, Camirand sticks to a simple routine.
“I try to stay relaxed, stay focused and stay close to my team and crew chief so I’m aware of everything that’s happening.”
For drivers experiencing their first NASCAR Canada doubleheader, his advice is straightforward.
“Be patient. Even if the first race doesn’t go the way you wanted, remember you have another opportunity to bounce back. It builds character.”
As the NASCAR Canada Series heads to Autodrome Montmagny for its second doubleheader of the season, drivers will once again put their preparation and focus to the test across two races in one evening. The green flag for the XPN Burn-X 125 is scheduled for 6:10 p.m. ET, followed by the Delta Electrolyte 150 at 8:10 p.m. ET.
Fans can watch the races live on REV TV and TVA Sports 2, while both events will also stream live on the NASCAR Canada YouTube channel. Tape-delayed coverage will be available on TSN.
