Gary Klutt Secures Pole Position Ahead of the CarGurus 200

Qualifying Results

Qualifying for the NASCAR Canada Series CarGurus 200 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park took place across three groups on Saturday afternoon.

Opening the session, Larry Jackson behind the wheel of the No. 84 Superior Propane / BestBuy / rack.ca / Cathcart Dodge posted the fastest lap in Group 1.

In the second group, a tight battle unfolded between Alex Guenette in the No. 39 DLGL / GL Électricité-Automatisations Chevrolet, and William Larue in the No. 45 Larue Industrial Snow Blowers / Leeboy Chevrolet, making his road course debut. Sam Fellows behind the No. 87 AER / Novus / McDougall Energy / Mobil 1 Chevrolet joined the fight to turn it into a three-way contest. Ultimately, William Larue set the fastest lap of the group.

Closing out qualifying, an incident involving the No. 38 RGR Motorsports / Muskoka Mod Centre Ford of Tyler Gonzalez brought out a red flag. He was evaluated by the track’s medical staff and has since been released.

The session resumed with five minutes remaining, where Gary Klutt, in the No. 71 AutologiQ / Kleen-Flo Dodge, delivered the fastest lap in Group and claimed the 3E3 Spark Plugs Pole Award.

“It’s always good to start on the front row, especially from the pole”, said Klutt. We’ll see how the race unfolds. Qualifying is fun, but it’s not always indicative of how things will play out over a full race distance. It should be interesting tomorrow.”

The green flag for the CarGurus 200 is set to wave at 2 p.m. at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. Fans can catch all the action live on REV TV and TVA Sports 2, with tape-delayed coverage available on TSN.
