The 2026 NASCAR Canada Series season officially got underway on Saturday with practice sessions at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, following an afternoon of test sessions on Friday.
The first practice session saw an early interruption, as the full course yellow was deployed in just three minutes following problems for the car No. 14 of Geoff Johnson. The field remained under caution for over seven minutes before returning to the green.
Another caution disrupted the session with 10 minutes remaining, ultimately ending it early following an incident involving Keith Bean in the No. 19. He was evaluated by the track’s medical staff and has been transported to the hospital as a precautionary measure.
Drivers returned to the track for the second practice session, with Connor Bell setting the pace in the No. 3 Dymon / Sangsin Brake Chevrolet recording a best lap of 1:22.849. L.P. Dumoulin followed in the No. 47 WeatherTech / Omnifab / Bellemare Dodge, while Gary Klutt posted the third-fastest time in the No. 71 Legendary Motorcar Co. Ltd entry. Kyle Steckly placed fourth in the No. 22 MBS / Sierra Excavation / APC Chevrolet, and Andrew Ranger completed the top five in the No. 27 Paillé Racing Chevrolet. Qualifying order has been determined by combining lap times from both practice sessions.
