Domenic Scrivo’s rookie season in NASCAR Canada came with a pretty unique footnote: he is doing it at 58, and doing it well. After years of lapping at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Corvettes, Scrivo made the jump into stock cars and capped 2025 by earning the Jostens Rookie title. A ninth place finish at Calabogie stood out as his personal highlight, and while he keeps the tone light, his goals for next season are clear: run (almost) the full schedule, keep learning, and turn more of those solid days into top 10 results.
How do you feel about winning the Rookie title?
It feels amazing, especially at 58 years old!
What’s your best moment from this season?
Calabogie, finishing ninth. The end of the race was hectic, but we held our ground and made it stick.
What’s next for you?
I’m planning to do the whole season. Riverside is the only one I’m not sure about, because my oval car isn’t really set up for that track. But we’ll see how it goes, I might still do it.
Next year, what are your goals for the season?
I want top 10s. I finished 11th in points this year, so if I can chip away at that and move up a few spots, that’s the goal.
What is your motorsport background?
I started in 2012. A friend of mine had a Corvette ZR1 and told me, “You’ve got to drive it,” so he brought me to Mosport for a lapping day. After that, I went and bought the exact same car, a 2011 ZR1. For about seven years at Mosport, my buddy used to call us “bumper to bumper” because we were always 10 feet apart. We even went to Corvette school a couple times, and honestly, we could not stay apart on track. It was probably dangerous, but we were used to it. Then I bought a 2019 ZR1 with around 800 horsepower and ran that for two more years. After that, I decided to jump into NASCAR Canada. Now we have five cars.
In the NASCAR Canada calendar, what’s your favorite track the series visits?
Mosport, Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. I’m used to it. I’ve done thousands of laps there.
What do you like the most about Mosport?
The speed and the corners. I’m so comfortable there because I know it so well. It’s just about going back and finding a little more speed.
Is Kyle Steckly going to race with you next year as well?
Yes. He’s going to do three races with us. Two at Mosport and then Honda Indy.
Why is it important for you to help Kyle Steckly?
A few reasons. Having Scott and Kyle around is huge because they help, they train you, and they work on the car. If it wasn’t for them, we’d basically be guessing, showing up with one car and hoping for the best. But it’s all about the setup, and these guys know how to do it. And with Kyle, I like being part of the future. It helps our reputation, too. A lot of people didn’t know who we were the last couple years, but I’ve slowly earned the respect of most of them. There are a couple who won’t, and that’s fine. Overall it’s a great group of guys. Some people take it more seriously than others. For me, I’m here to have fun. I’m not here to win a championship or anything like that.
Who’s your favourite driver of all time?
They’re all a great group of guys, but D J Kennington stands out. He’s never missed a race. He drives his hauler to the track, and I do that sometimes too, so I respect that. The dedication is incredible. His passion and what he does for the sport really shows. Jason Hathaway is a great guy too. Honestly, it’s a good group of people who have fun and do a lot for the sport.
