Louis-Philippe Dumoulin: A Career Built on Passion and an Exceptional Partnership

Three-time NASCAR Canada Series champion and 2011 Canadian Motorsports Hall of Fame inductee, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin, is a cornerstone of Canadian motorsport. Originally from Trois-Rivières, he grew up in an environment where mechanics and racing were part of everyday life.

Humble Beginnings, Unshakable Passion

Alongside his brother Jean-François, also a driver, Louis-Philippe discovered racing in the simplest conditions: cars salvaged from the scrapyard and repaired in the family garage at night.

“We didn’t have much, but we had passion. After school, we worked on the cars so we could race on weekends, often on ice tracks,” he recalls.

“Sharing the passion for racing with my brother, and even competing against him, means the world to me. I’m very aware of how fortunate I am to live this with my family, and I hope my kids, whatever path they choose, will also keep that same strong bond between them.”

Over the years, he climbed the ranks: Formula Ford, Formula Atlantic, Formula Renault, endurance racing with Porsche and BMW, the 24 Hours of Daytona and then NASCAR Canada.

WeatherTech: A Partnership That Changed His Life

The defining moment of his career came in 2011, when he met WeatherTech founder David MacNeil. That meeting sparked a unique partnership that has now lasted 14 seasons.

“For me, WeatherTech is more than a sponsor, it’s my life. Without them, I wouldn’t be here today. We’ve won three championships together, shared victories and podiums, but above all, we’ve built a relationship based on trust and respect,” says Dumoulin.

This longevity is built on a clear philosophy: a partnership must always be a “win-win deal.”

“It’s not just about receiving a check. You need to represent the brand well, deliver visibility, and perform both on and off the track.”

Dumoulin reminds young drivers that talent alone is not enough. “Yes, you need to perform behind the wheel, but if you want to last in racing, you have to be just as strong in marketing. Understand what partners are looking for, know how to speak to the media and build solid relationships. That’s what makes the difference.”

He also emphasizes perseverance while warning against putting one’s financial stability at risk.

“Passion is powerful, but you need to surround yourself with the right people and find balance.”

CTMP Goal: Victory

As the season continues, Dumoulin has one clear target – finally winning at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in the WeatherTech 200.

“I’ve been chasing that victory for years. We’ve been close several times. This time, the objective is clear: Win for my team, my family, my fans and for WeatherTech, who have always stood by me.”

With a career already rich in success and experience, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin remains driven by the same passion that fueled him back in his father’s garage.

“Every season, I start over with the same drive to perform and to honor those who have put their trust in me.”
