Marc-Antoine Camirand Clinches Pole Ahead of the 60 Tours Rousseau Métal

Qualifying Results

The NASCAR Canada field hit the streets of Trois-Rivières at the end of the day for Qualifying. The twenty-nine drivers all tried to beat the clock, in what was a tight session.

Martin Goulet Jr., in the No. 83 Construction J. Brillant / Grues Miral Chevrolet, topped the times in Group 1. Simon Charbonneau then set the benchmark for Group 2 in his No. 88 TransGestion / NAPA / IAI Experts Conseils Chevrolet. Crowd favourite Raphaël Lessard led Group 3 in the No. 7 Lions de Trois-Rivières-themed Chevrolet.

But it was Marc-Antoine Camirand who ultimately delivered a masterclass in the art of navigating the streets of Trois-Rivières and secured the E3 Spark Plugs Pole Award. Behind the wheel of the No. 96 GM Paillé Chevrolet, he secured the most coveted pole position of the year in front of his home crowd, a fitting tribute to legend Gilles Villeneuve, whose signature and iconic Skiroule-inspired livery adorn Camirand’s car this weekend.

“Pole position for tomorrow’s race. We’re really happy. I broke my own record. It’s going to be a long race tomorrow, we’ll stay patient and see what we can go for.”

Andrew Ranger, also sporting a livery honouring Villeneuve, will line up second on the grid in the No. 27 GM Paillé Chevrolet Canada. Alex Tagliani will start third in the No. 80 St-Hubert / UPS Store / Bet GRW / DryShine Chevrolet for the 60 Tours Rousseau Métal.

The 60 Tours Rousseau Métal will be live on REV TV and TVA Sports 2 starting at 1:00 p.m. ET.
