Mathieu Kingsbury: Gearing Up for His First Full Season in NASCAR Canada

The 2025 season marks Mathieu Kingsbury’s first full season behind the wheel of the No. 9 Duroking / BFL Canada Chevrolet. Both entrepreneur and race car driver, Kingsbury thrives on performance whether in business or on the track.

An Unconventional Journey

Kingsbury began his racing career in 2016 at Autodrome St-Eustache in the Sportsman class. He later moved on to compete in Late Model Sportsman (LMS) races in the United States. Unlike many of his peers, he didn’t come up through karting. Instead, he built a strong foundation in mechanics and honed an impressive ability to adapt. These skills have fueled his rapid progression. In 2021, he won two LMS championships.

He made his NASCAR Canada Series debut in 2019 on a part-time basis. However, this year, he’s fully committing to the championship. “When you only run select races, it’s harder to be consistent. This year, I’m putting all my energy into NASCAR Canada,” he explained.

Balancing his business, family life, and the intensity of racing, Kingsbury relies on structured preparation. The owner of Innovation Autosport trains alongside other drivers and closely observes their performance. He also takes time to study each track, especially road courses, which present a new learning curve for him.

He believes his experience as an entrepreneur helps him handle pressure: “In business, just like in racing, you have to make quick decisions. That helps me stay calm and manage stress with confidence.”

A Bold Driving Style

On oval tracks, Kingsbury feels right at home. He describes his style as determined, sometimes aggressive, but always strategic. He aims to deliver strong results without compromising the experience for racing fans.

Among the circuits on the calendar, Autodrome Chaudière holds a special place in his journey. He’s claimed victories there and engaged in numerous battles in LMS, including against well-established drivers. “My goal for Chaudière this year is to be in the top 5 or better,” he said.

Clear Ambitions

Kingsbury is giving himself two to three years to become a regular front-runner. While he’s aiming for a win on an oval this season, he plans to continue building experience on road courses. One day, he hopes to race at Martinsville in NASCAR or in a Super Late Model at Pensacola, Florida.
