Kyle Steckly Grabs Pole at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park

Qualifying results

Kyle Steckly captured the E3 Spark Plugs Pole Award after leading his group in Qualifying with a flying time of 1:22.264 in his No. 22 MBS Mtps/Sierra Excavating/APC Chevrolet. The rising star has been eyeing a win at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) for some time with a third-place finish at CTMP last fall and a pole at Delaware Speedway in 2023.

“We got the pole here at CTMP with MBS Motorsports, I’m really happy about it,” said Steckly. “We had a really fast car today. It feels good now, but we’ve got to go back to work to make sure our car can do that for 52 laps tomorrow. Hopefully, we’ll be at the front again at the end.”

Kevin Lacroix, who set the CTMP qualifying record last September, will start in second position on the grid in the No. 74 NAPA Racing / Quick Strut Dodge. Just behind him is veteran Alex Tagliani, who posted a 1:22.456 lap to lock in the third position commanding the No. 80 St. Hubert / UPS Store / Bet GRW Chevrolet.

Marc-Antoine Camirand, fastest in the earlier practice session, will start fourth in the No. 96 GM Paillé Chevrolet. He’s followed by Alex Guenette in fifth behind the wheel of the No. 39 GL Électricité-Automatisations / Bet GRW Chevrolet.

The green flag for the Clarington 200 is set to wave Sunday, May 18 at 2:00 p.m. ET. Fans can catch all the action live on REV TV, TVA Sports and tape-delayed broadcasts on TSN.
