Autodrome Montmagny will host NASCAR Canada for the first time this weekend, marking the season finale. This new 3/8-mile oval, added to the schedule this year, will see 22 drivers battling for the first-ever victory on this track. The event will take place over two days, starting with the first practice session at 11:00 AM, followed by a second session at 12:45 PM, and qualifying at 3:45 PM on Saturday afternoon. On Sunday, September 22, the 2024 champion will be crowned during the XPN 250, which begins at 1:00 PM.
Title contender Marc-Antoine Camirand will be behind the wheel of the #96 GM Paillé Chevrolet. He’ll need to stay vigilant as Kevin Lacroix, driving the #74 Quick Strut / NAPA Racing Dodge, is hot on his heels, trailing by just 20 points. Andrew Ranger (#27 GM Paillé Chevrolet) is only 22 points behind the leader, adding to the intensity of the championship battle.
DJ Kennington will make the trip from Ontario to compete in the 250-lap race with his #17 Castrol Edge / CIM Metals / Brimestone Games Dodge. He’s also entering the #51 L’Entrepôt Pièces d’Auto / Ray Jr Investissement Dodge for Frédérik Ladouceur.
It will be a debut for Martin Goulet Junior, who will race the #83 Miral Cranes / Toitures Lb / Formwork Construction / Ml Aménagement / Anna Romantowski Remax Dodge. Although new to NASCAR Canada, Goulet has experience in the ACT series and has competed in Late Models and other stock car series.
Several drivers will return to the track at Montmagny, including Mathieu Kingsbury, driving the #9 Duroking Construction Chevrolet. Will Larue, who participated in the June race at Autodrome Chaudière, will also be back in the #45 JA Larue / XPN World Chevrolet. Maxime Gauvreau (#97 Capteurs GR Dodge) will compete after finishing 11th in his series debut earlier this year.
Raphaël Lessard, who secured a 3rd-place finish at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, will also be competing, this time driving the #7 Larue Industrial Snow Blowers Chevrolet. Could Louis-Philippe Dumoulin (#47 WeatherTech / Omnifab / Bellemare Dodge) be seeking revenge after their heated exchange during the final lap in Trois-Rivières? Stay tuned!
Glenn Styres, a regular on oval tracks, will take one last ride this season in the #0 GSR / Ohsweken Speedway / Chantarellie Promotions Chevrolet. Dexter Stacey (#92 RECAP Fibre / Bullies Truck Stop Chevrolet) and Larry Jackson (#84 Big Chief / O’Neil Electric / E3 / Duma / Castrol Dodge) will also head to Autodrome Montmagny.
