The Delaware 200, the penultimate race of the 2024 NASCAR Canada season, saw Kevin Lacroix and his NAPA Racing team deliver a commanding performance.
Starting from pole, Lacroix led an impressive 191 of the 200 laps, leaving only 9 laps to his Innovation Auto Sport teammate Andrew Ranger at the beginning of the race. This victory propels Lacroix to second place in the championship standings, just 20 points behind leader Marc-Antoine Camirand.
Rookies Shine at Delaware 200
Four rookies took on the challenge of Delaware Speedway, and they didn’t disappoint.
Steve Côté blazed through qualifying, securing a third-place start in his Evirum/BKFC Chevrolet – the highest of the rookies. He crossed the finish line in eighth, earning the coveted Josten’s Rookie of the Race award.
Danny Chisholm, back behind the wheel of the No. 8 Fast Eddie Speedwear/Jani-King Chevrolet, qualified eighth and finished just behind Côté in ninth, showcasing his consistency.
Frederik Ladouceur improved on his 15th-place start, finishing a respectable 14th.
Meanwhile, Ryan Dyson, making his NASCAR Canada debut, was running inside the top 10 before an electrical issue ended his race early.
Championship Showdown at Autodrome Montmagny
For the first time, the NASCAR Canada championship will be decided at a brand-new venue. On September 22nd, Autodrome Montmagny, a ½ km (3/8-mile) oval just outside Quebec City, will host its inaugural NASCAR Canada race.
This short track, which regularly features the Quebec ACT series, PASS North, and Sportsman Quebec, promises to deliver an unforgettable finale to the 2024 season.
