David Thorndyke and the #67 Promotive Chevrolet team entered round ten of the NASCAR Canada Series at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) with high expectations, building on the valuable lessons learned from their spring race at the iconic road course near Bowmanville, Ontario.
After applying a different setup to the car, the team was pleased with their performance in practice and felt optimistic about their chances in the 200km race. Starting from the 28th position on Sunday, Thorndyke was ready to deliver another strong result, similar to the one achieved earlier in the season.
Thorndyke’s approach is to let the race come to them, not pushing too hard in the early laps, it has proven to be a successful formula. However, just eight laps into the race, Thorndyke encountered brake issues that forced him to retire early, cutting short what could have been a promising outing.

“We were really happy with the changes we made for this race; the car felt really good after practice. We had a few small issues that we dealt with this weekend, but I was optimistic for the race. I felt the brakes getting soft and we had fluid leaking so we couldn’t continue. It’s too bad we didn’t get a chance to show our full potential today. Big thanks to the entire team for all the hard work to prepare the car, we’re a small group and everyone pitches in, and I appreciate it. Thanks also the fans for coming out.”
This was the final race of the 2024 NASCAR Canada Series season for David Thorndyke and the #67 Promotive Chevrolet Camaro team. The team wants to thank the fans for their continued support and encourages them to follow the rest of the series events. The #67 Promotive Chevrolet Team will return to competition next season.
