As thousands of fans packed the grandstands to watch the NASCAR Canada drivers vie for the best lap time, Andrew Ranger emerged as the fastest, securing the E3 Spark Plug Award. The session was interrupted by a lengthy delay when the No. 84 MBS/Sierra Excavating/Bolton GM Chevrolet of Daniel Bois encountered issues.
When qualifying resumed, Andrew Ranger and Kevin Lacroix were locked in a tight battle for pole position. Ultimately, Ranger’s No. 27 GM Paillé Chevrolet edged out Lacroix’s No. 74 NAPA Racing/Quick Strut by just 0.061 seconds.
Ranger secured his first E3 Spark Plug Award of the season with a lap time of 1:03.368. “It feels awesome to grab my first pole position of the season here at ICAR,” said Ranger.
Local driver Alex Guénette set the third fastest time in the No. 39 Casino Grand Royal Wolinak/DLGL/GLEA Chevrolet. Steve Côté posted the fourth fastest time in his No. 29 Evirum/BKFC Chevrolet, while championship leader Marc-Antoine Camirand rounded out the top five in his No. 96 GM Paillé Chevrolet.
