PIT BOX: Pinty’s FanCave Challenge to Conclude at Jukasa

There’s a sense familiarity as the NASCAR Pinty’s Series heads to Jukasa Motor Speedway for its season finale.

The Pinty’s FanCave Challenge will wrap up at Canada’s Crown Jewel with the Motomaster 125 and the Pinty’s 125 on Saturday evening.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR:

The points battle has stayed between Jason Hathaway and Kevin Lacroix for majority of the season but the fight isn’t over yet.

Hathaway came close to victory at Jukasa last year but finished runner up to his teammate Brett Taylor, who scored his first win that race. The three EHR cars have been strong, claiming a total of six podium finishes in the first four races of 2020.

Jukasa LogoLacroix is no stranger to success at Jukasa, either. Since the track reopened in 2017, the No. 74 Bumper to Bumper/Total/Gates Dodge has never finished outside the top-five at the 0.625-mile oval. Lacroix even claimed his first oval victory there in 2018.

The dark horse of the 2020 season has been D.J. Kennington. The No. 17 Castrol Dodge kept his nose clean, scoring multiple strong finishes and sits third just 17 points back of Hathaway in the standings. The last time Kennington saw Victory Lane was at Jukasa in the 2018 season finale.

Another driver to watch out for is Donald Theetge. The No. 80 Theetge Chevrolet/XPN Chevrolet has been fast all season with new team Wight Motorsports. Theetge has come close to success at Jukasa before, leading 196 laps and claiming two runner-up finishes.

J.R. Fitzpatrick is back for the final two races in the No. 24 PartyCasino Chevrolet. While Fitzpatrick has yet to race a Pinty’s car on the refurbished speedway, he has plenty of experience there in the APC Series and his two appearances in the Canadian Short Track Nationals.

Cole Powell will be returning to the series this weekend. The 28-year-old from Mt. Brydges, Ont. will drive the No. 36 for Jacombs Racing.
